  3. Historical Background • SGPs have been calculated in Indiana for the ILEARN since 2010 (with a brief interruption in the mid 2010s) and for the WIDA-ACCESS since 2017. • Since the pandemic, SGPs have been calculated in both a cohort- and baseline-referenced manner.
  4. SGP Analyses 2025 • Data received from IDE on 7/24. • Data validated, prepared, and processed for analyses 7/25 to • Results validated and uploaded 7/30. • All analyses run on the R software environment 4.5.1 using the SGP package (v2.2.2.0). • All analyses ran without error or warning.

Goodness of Fit Plots • SGP Goodness of Fit plots indicate the distribution of state calculated SGPs by grade and content area (for example, grade 5, mathematics). • By definition, cohort referenced SGPs should for a uniform distribution with the same number of students receiving SGPs of 1, 2, 3, …, 99. Any deviation from a uniform distribution indicates model misfit. • Baseline referenced SGPs need not have a uniform distribution since we are using previously calculated growth norms with current data. • We want to see higher percentages of students demonstrating higher rates of growth. • We want to see lower percentages of students demonstrating lower rates of growth. • However, deviations from uniformity in baseline SGPs can also signal scale drift/shift.

Goodness of Fit Plots • SGP Goodness of Fit plots indicate the distribution of state calculated SGPs by grade and content area (for example, grade 5, mathematics). • By definition, cohort referenced SGPs should for a uniform distribution with the same number of students receiving SGPs of 1, 2, 3, …, 99. Any deviation from a uniform distribution indicates model misfit. • Baseline referenced SGPs need not have a uniform distribution since we are using previously calculated growth norms with current data. • We want to see higher percentages of students demonstrating higher rates of growth. • We want to see lower percentages of students demonstrating lower rates of growth. • However, deviations from uniformity in baseline SGPs can also signal scale drift/shift.
