How many educators are actually using the interim assessments?
Asked by: the committee, in Session 1 — Using the Smarter Balanced Interim Assessment.
Answer given: “Data not available at the user level.”
Why it is still open. OEAA can count tests and schools but cannot count teachers. So the ~14,000 tests across 21 schools could be broad shallow adoption or narrow deep adoption, and those imply opposite strategies. It also means OEAA cannot tell whether Ruth Fox Middle School’s 50% decline (Smarter Balanced Interim Participation Trend Data) is a district disengaging or a practice changing within one.
What would resolve it. Either user-level telemetry from the delivery platform, or the MAC barrier study reaching individual educators rather than district contacts.
